Next Episode and Facebook
While I'm working on the
Next Episode Android App
, can you guys maybe help me bring the fans of the
next episode page
on facebook to a more reasonable number (currently it's 41 ...).
All you have to do is click the like button above (right next to the site search button) and your appreciation and love for next episode will be recorded! :)
The button above will not stay there forever, I just want to see how many likes we can get. Cheers and thanks!

The button doesn't work for me as I block all access to facebook. But +1 from me :)
I did it, and I despise the invasion of the internet by Facebook. This site is more important than my hatred of facebook, so you got a +1 ;)
gotta +1 from here ^_'

Im with Completenutter... Despise facebook and everything it has to stand for. You can check out some of my rants about facebook on the IMDB page of The Social Network, lol... Defines my generation my a$$. Van Wilder is closer to my life than this movie.

+1 from me, tho i don't have facebook.

Liked by me. n-e.net is invaluable to me. For the facelift, I like the white space, but how about something to subtly separate the sections. It blends all into one a little much for me. Maybe something in a shade of grey?
I mocked something up:
Be sure to view the image full size if your browser shrinks it to fit.

this looks great! You sir are a genius!
Where do we put the watchlist though?
Edit: ok I saw where it is
I'd love to see your idea for the calendar, stuff to watch and the show details page :)
The only thing that bothers me is that there will be huge amounts of work involved into switching to such design :(
comment # 9 by
Yeah, I moved the watch list because I personally never use it, it just takes up space. And I dislike three column layouts in general as everything ends up either really small or too scrunched together. But I guess other people my use the watch list more than I do.
It shouldn't be too bad to change if the divs have sensible IDs. Most of it's just styling - The only bit that might need something on the backend changing would be the compressed watch list.
For the show:
For the calendar:
Edit: I just looked at your source code - I hadn't realised it was all tables. Yes, that's gonna take a bit of effort to recode nicely into a div based layout. But, at least once it's done any future tweaks or even a full redesign can be done solely through the CSS file without having to touch the pages themselves.
Yea, unfortunately back in 2005 divs layouts weren't as popular :(
Dude, seriously, your stuff is amazing. I love it.
I'll start playing with it as soon as tomorrow (on the beta site). Will PM you as well most likely :)
Wow... I mean, wow O.O
Dude, you are fantastic.

I use the watchlist a lot. It give the best notion of shows status in general whether its active, on hiatus or a show on its way..
Silverlight options could be the coolest way to go with options to rearrange things as each one would like... maybe that would make the site to heavy?
Beta site looking good, but must say benhen your mock ups are amazing love the layouts.
Silverlight? Boo! Silverlight is worse than flash, and only about 60% of people have it installed. Unless you're playing videos, no website should use flash or Silverlight. Even video sites shouldn't use Silverlight. Also, no other type of a website should use Silverlight. Websites should only require a web browser.
If user editable layouts are needed then JS is the answer - But I think you're right that it'd make next-episode too heavy.

Hehe finally we have a design guy showing us the way to awesomeness :D
Those designs are extremely great. And if I'm thinking ahead even a customized layout for each user is possible. So every user could arange the things he uses. Some don't like the watchlist. Some don't like to see what was on yesterday. And some just want to see the calendar. So if it's all DIV and CSS and a little AJAX then almost anything is possible.
So - santah - I guess back to the drawing board as I don't see the point in doing a nosejob when you need to do a facelift ;)
yea bb, what I said, lots of work ahead :(

I agree that benhen's mock up looks great! Thumbs up from me if you guys choose to go this way. The colors are really easy on the eyes. And also I've clicked the "like" button, bringing the number up to an even 300 :)

+1 from me! I love this site and everything about it!

That button went nuts on me! I'll just find n-e.net on there manually and "like" it, because that's how much I love this site innit.

Thanks :) or just go here: https://www.facebook.com/nextepisodenet

numbers went up fast hu?
i really love benhen's idea but i think it is a bit big
i think half the size would be enough... or maybe 75%
or maybe an option for the size :3
great work by the way! n-e is my start page on every device ;D
greetings from germany

nice work on redesigning the site, but i do prefer the "clean" text version that it is right now... neat and minimalistic, only with the info the average tv addict really needs...
hope tahat we'll be able to chose the design we like in the options, keep in mind, no pictures less bandwidth used...
keep the good work, love the site!!!

lawl, from 41 to 125. WELL!

perhaps as a layout, there could be a setting option where this window thing would be pre-programmed and you'd choose as to what window you'd like to have to the left, middle, right.. or even a setting determening how many columns you'd like. Then with a - I don't know - number system, you'd determine what window would be on top in each column. You already have similar system -determining how many days youd like in future past.. this would be a 2.0 version of that feature...
-just an idea
