Loved seeing Cress Williams return to the role of Black Lightning for this weeks' Flash... it had some good character moments as well as some nice interactions. I hope Jefferson sticks around for the next episode.

I gave up watching when season 1 ended, and the last episodes were already a struggle. Too much drama for my taste, but the show at least found a big enough audience for 4 seasons. :)

A fair criticism. It was very drama... even soapish, which is the aspect of comics that actually got me hooked on 'em, in general, as a kid soooo yeah... I was in my element

This is for the street, Black Lightning's back!!!

Jefferson Pierce is the principal of Garfield High School in the city of Freeland, Georgia. Nine years ago, he was a superhero called Black Lightning until he retired after what that life was doing to his wife Lynn and daughters Anissa & Jennifer.

Jefferson is forced to become Black Lightning again when The 100, Freeland's most feared criminal gang led by Tobias Whale, starts taking over the city. Jefferson's return as Black Lightning is by a recent confrontation with gang member and long time neighborhood gangster, Latavius "Lala" Jackson. After the incident, Anissa starts to develop her abilities and becomes Thunder while Jennifer starts to develop her own electrical abilities. In addition, family friend Khalil Payne gets swayed to Tobias' side following a sniper injury in order to become cybernetic enhancements.

Along with long time mentor and friend Peter Gambi and a community of allies like Inspector Bill Henderson, Detective Hassan Shakur, Perenna, T.C., Grace Choi and more the Pierce's will take on the dangers of Freeland which range from the A.S.A. (American Security Agency) experimenting on the citizens of Freeland for decades for the use in a MetaHuman arms race with the rogue nation of Markovia, helped by the dangerously unethical Dr. Helga Jace.

Black Lightning is returning to TV with the 5-part Arrowverse crossover within CW's The Flash, which started last night. And I think it's high time someone starts a discussion about this, the most consistent and best crafted of the CWDCU series...

I, for one, cannot believe the CW would cancel it's most inclusive and well plotted series, even if it wasn't getting the highest ratings. In my opinion Black Lightning was more important than just the immediately quantifiable return, it was a real effort to reach an either group of fans who have been generally ignored. And unlike Arrow or Supergirl, which stayed past their expiration dates, BL had barely realized it's premises by the end of the series.

I remember when Luke Cage came out and it broke NETFLIX and we were all like, see a black lead superhero series isn't a bad idea! Unfortunately that series lost focus and, even if it ended strong, never was able to pick up that momentum again. However Black Lightning never lost its thrust nor focus. Mostly because, unlike other CWCDU series Black Lightning spent all four of it's seasons working towards one end, despite the threat of the week, and that was bringing Tobias Whale, the man who killed Jefferson's father, to justice for all his crimes. And by doing that free the city from Whale's criminal empire.

But that's just my opinion...
