The story of this six-part detective series begins when a group of Czechs and Slovaks arrives on an island in the middle of the Adriatic-participants in a special course called "A Meeting with Death." They don't know each other; they're seeing one another for the first time in their lives. At the same moment, an extremely powerful storm hits the coast. The wild force of nature cuts the ten participants and their guide off from the rest of the world. The first major conflicts emerge, tensions within the group rise. And the greatest drama is yet to come.

A new investigator, Marek (Václav Neužil), joins the Brno branch of the anti-corruption police and is assigned a seemingly insignificant case of bribery in football. But he soon uncovers a vast corruption network reaching all the way to the top league. In parallel, we follow manager Ivan's struggle to save his club, referee Irča's efforts to prove herself in a male-dominated world, and businessman Ľuboš's quest for his father's approval. All of them risk everything for their dreams - some even crossing the line of the law.

Viewers will once again be able to look into the life and career of Jiří Markovič, the legendary criminal investigator whose methods fundamentally shaped crime investigation in Czechoslovakia. This time, however, the portrait will be far more detailed and shown from a different angle. His journey will be presented by the people most qualified to do so-his colleagues and family. But also historians, judges, psychiatrists, and other figures who were part of his cases. The docuseries is created by the same team behind the scripted series The Markovič Method.
