While initial results are encouraging, things don't quite work out as planned once the good people of Braunschlag get into the act. BRAUNSCHLAG is a story about greed, corruption, misanthropy, Catholicism and alcohol quintessential Austria. This black-humored TV series explores the darker corners of the Austrian heart.

Vienna prosecutor Kara Hoffmann dies in a car bomb attack while her boyfriend, then chief inspector at the time Alexander Haller goes blind. Haller blames himself for Karas death. When he wants to take his own life in Vienna at night, the daring Berlin taxi driver Nikolai Falk saves him. Well-heeled Haller then hires him as chauffeur and assistant when Haller's arch-rival breaks out of prison and tells him that the attack was not for him but his girlfriend. Together, the two become private detectives and begin to re-examine Kara's last case. Haller's particularly well-developed hearing and sense of smell are of great help - for this and other cases.

Austrian drama about the ups and downs of life - in human as well as meteorological terms, because the series revolves around the sunny and dark sides of everyday life in the weather department of the largest broadcaster in the country. Robert Palfrader embodies Otto Cerny-Hohenburg, a well-deserved former news anchor, who is due to return to broadcasting after a long period of sick leave due to being too close to hard liquor. Unfortunately, there is no place for him there - except for the weather, which Otto has of course no idea about.
