Onion News Network
Based on the original weekly newspaper and web series, the crazy news and comedic headlines we've come to love will be presented by the show's new anchors and guests.
Basilisk
Containing the elements of a classic tragedy, this anime title is similar in some ways to Romeo & Juliet. Before a cease-fire was established, two clans of ninja had been fighting for centuries. Now the cease-fire has been abolished and the clans are once more at war.
Benders
The show follows several friends bonded by an irrational obsession for their beer-swilling amateur hockey league. Their skills may be limited but their passion is not, as evidenced by the chaos hockey creates in their everyday lives. This isn't fast-paced, brawler-style hockey. It's the slow motion, falling-down version.
Sherman's Showcase
Drawing inspiration from dance/variety shows, each episode of Sherman's Showcase takes viewers through time, via music and comedy drawn from the 40-year library of a legendary (but fictional) musical variety show.
Bullet in the Face
Gunter Vogler is a former criminal who has since become a cop. He is instructed to get a new identity and infiltrate his former gang.
The Birthday Boys
The series is in the classic vein of absurd/silly/smart/funny variety shows (Mr. Show, Monty Python), featuring sketches that twist real-life moments and cultural touchstones. An early episode tackles such issues as eggs, toilet paper and computers.
Out There (2013)
This is a coming-of-age animated series that follows adventures of Chad, his brother Jay, and best friend Chris. Growing up in a small town, the boys deal with the horrors adolescence and puberty, must navigate first loves and enemies, and bond with each other over local legends and shared social ostracism.
Independent Spirit Awards
These are awards dedicated to independent filmmakers. Winners were typically presented with acrylic glass pyramids containing suspended shoestrings representing the paltry budgets of independent films. In 1986, the event was renamed the Independent Spirit Awards. The Independent Spirit Awards are presented by Film Independent, a non-profit organization dedicated to independent film and independent filmmakers. In 2007, the ceremony was slightly changed to Film Independent's Spirit Awards. Since 2006, winners have received a trophy depicting a bird sitting atop of a pole with the shoestrings from the previous design wrapped around the pole. The awards show was previously held inside a tent on the beach in Santa Monica, California, usually on the day before the Academy Awards (since 1999; originally the Saturday before). Since 1994, the show has been broadcast on the Bravo network and Independent Film Channel.
Gigi Does It
The show follows Gertrude Rotblum, aka "Gigi," who just lost her beloved husband Harold, but has gained a new lease on life with the help of an unknown bank account discovered in his will.
The Henry Rollins Show
Henry Rollins is back and is expanding his horizons to encompass all topics including music and politics under the new title of The Henry Rollins Show. Subculture meets pop culture in this unique interview show. Every week Henry Rollins reviews films, music and more plus interviews with the people that make the headlines.
