The Academy Awards honors the best in the film industry. Each time, the Oscar trophies are given to honor the best films of that year. Each January, the the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences would give announce it's nominations and give out the golden statues in March. This annual events has been held since 1929.

The show is now held at the MGM Grand Garden Arena. The Academy also adopted a sleeker, modern version of the "hat" trophy that year, and in 2004 the organization implemented online awards voting for its professional members, becoming the first televised awards show to do so.

The Critics' Choice Movie Awards (formerly known as the Broadcast Film Critics Association Award) are bestowed annually by the Broadcast Film Critics Association (BFCA) to honor the finest in cinematic achievement.
