Masterpiece Theatre
On the air since 1971, in its early days the show consisted entirely of British drama productions, more than half of them from the BBC. Since the year 2000, some classic productions from the American Collection have also been included, but the bulk of the show still comes from the UK.
Masterpiece Classic
Unfortunately this is no longer updated on thetvdb.com or on tvmaze.com (where we get schedules from).
Masterpiece is aired as three different series. Initially, "Masterpiece Classic" aired in the winter and early spring, Masterpiece Mystery! in the late spring and summer, and Masterpiece Contemporary in the fall. In later seasons, particularly after an increase in funding for WGBH and Masterpiece, the scheduling became more random. Currently, all three programs air at any time throughout the year, and on nearly half the Sundays, two episodes from two different miniseries will air on the same night.
Daniel Deronda
Based on George Eliot's novel about a love triangle gone awry, Daniel Deronda originally aired on television as part of the award-winning Masterpiece Theatre series. The illegitimate son of a wealthy British aristocrat, Daniel harbors a secretive past and a ready supply of cash. When he meets Gwendolyn, a beautiful woman in desperate need of money, things get complicated, as he's already involved in a passionate relationship with a Jewish singer.
The Jewel in the Crown
Drama series set in India in the 1940s, during the period of the Indian Raj. The series aired on ITV in Great Britain and in the United States on PBS as an installment of Masterpiece Theatre.
Wives and Daughters
Elizabeth Gaskell's novel brought to Masterpiece Theatre involving a gossipy English town, with the story revolving around the only daughter of a widowed doctor.
Masterpiece Contemporary
Each fall, Masterpiece contemporary showcases dramas set in modern times. They are of the contemporary, issue-driven category. Contemporary is a showcase for made-for-TV, high-end programs.
