The Pacific
From the creative team behind Band of Brothers comes this ten-hour miniseries tracing 3 American marines as they fight World War II in the Pacific.
Black Sheep Squadron
In World War II Marine Corps Major Greg 'Pappy' Boyington commanded a squadron of fighter pilots. They were a collection of misfits and screwballs who became the terrors of the South Pacific. They were known as the Black Sheep.
The Pacific War in Color
The Pacific War in Color immerses viewers in a graphic and dramatic look through an unfiltered lens. Rare home movies from servicemen capture intimate images of troops on tropical beaches, naval hazing rituals when sailors cross the equator, and morale-boosting USO shows on dusty desert islands. Personal movies shot by pilots in cockpits crackle with intensity, and color combat footage bursts with the nervous energy of storming beaches, white-knuckle dogfights and face-to-face island-hopping warfare. Remarkable home movies from General Douglas MacArthur show his family in the Philippines before the war and later in Japan after the surrender, offering a different view of life during wartime.
McHale's Navy
The show follows Quinton McHale, the Lieutenant Commander of the U.S. Navy Reserve as he journeys through the Pacific during World War II on Torpedo Patrol Boat #73 and the zany crew that mans it. The crew includes Ensign Charles Parker, Lester Gruber, and Joseph "Happy" Haines, each having their own quirks but all meaning well. McHale is overseen by Base Commander Captain Wallace B. Binghamton who sees McHale and his men as a constant problem, often hearing of the oddball situations in which the men of the PT73 find themselves.
