Before the Naked Gun movie series, there was Police Squad! Police Squad! is a short series released by ABC in 1982. The creators of this series went on to create the Naked Gun movies (and had previously made the Airplane! spoof movie in 1980).

In this one-season series based on two high-rated TV movies, Carl Kolchak is a down-and-out reporter who finds himself in Chicago. He gets a job with the Independent News Service, and finds himself investigating cases involving the supernatural and the fantastical.

The animated series followed the same formula as the HBO original live-action series, including the same theme song. Many episodes consisted of two 15-minute stories; however, a few presented a single full 30-minute plot. The animated version carried on the tradition of original songs, with at least one tune per episode (including a few recycled from the puppet version, such as "Let Me Be Your Song"). In its original run, the animated episodes were book-ended by footage of the original puppet version of Uncle Traveling Matt, introducing the show from Doc's workshop. The animated version of Fraggle Rock was cancelled after only one season (13 episodes). The most noticeable difference is that unlike the live-action version, the animated version of Doc is shown from the neck down, much like Nanny was on Muppet Babies.

This show is a spin-off of Bewitched, starring Tabitha Stephens, her brother, and one of her aunts, Aunt Minerva. The show only lasted for one season, and aired about a dozen episodes, but it is truly a classic. The opening is the most memorable, using a kid's bedtime story and a photo album of animated kid's drawings.

The Pink Panther and Sons is a Hanna-Barbra produced spin-off of the much more popular The Pink Panther Show. This time the panther is joined by his three sons: Pinky and Panky. Ironically all of the Pink Panther's sons can talk, but the Pink Panther himself is still a mute.
