The Great Masterpiece Challenge" sees members of the public try and ascertain the authenticity of paintings hanging in a number of British galleries. Following a pre-arranged project that involved the swapping out of seven real masterpieces for seven copies, people with a keen eye for detail are invited to art houses in cities including Cardiff, Edinburgh, London, Liverpool, and Manchester in order to see if they can spot which pieces are genuine and which are fake. People that score well advance to the finale in Oxford, and each episode also sees Coren and Balston meet gallery curators and artists.
