Modra krevModra krev
Česká televize, 2017 Cancelled/Ended | Documentary

The noble families are a direct link between the Czech nation and its own history as part of the cultural heritage of our homeland, and they are the ones who have not abandoned their true homeland and continue to take care of many cultural monuments without official titles of nobility. In this documentary series, Count František Kinský guides us through the intricate life stories of the Czech aristocracy, who were marked by the difficult experiences of the past regime. With this series, Czech Television is bringing back the nation's awareness of its common history and showing the great humility, awareness of traditions and true values, as well as responsibility for the family property entrusted to them, which are inherent in the nobility and rightly rank among the elite of nations in developed countries. We also see the proverbial refinement of their mansions and castles. We will see exactly those values that are sorely lacking in today's over-consuming age. Many of the youngest generation of the aristocracy grew up in exile and sometimes did not even know the diverse history of their ancestral lands. After the Velvet Revolution, they returned, taking up the family legacy that they are carefully nurturing for future generations and bringing life back to where it should have disappeared forever in the past. How do they cope with the Czech environment? How challenging is it to live up to the family creed at a time when honour is no longer at the top of the social agenda?

BBC Two, 2002 Cancelled/Ended | Documentary

Adam Curtis' acclaimed series examines the rise of the all-consuming self against the backdrop of the Freud dynasty. Certainly the people may feel they are in charge, but are they really? The Century of the Self tells the untold and sometimes controversial story of the growth of the mass-consumer society in Britain and the United States. How was the all-consuming self created, by whom, and in whose interests? The Freud dynasty is at the heart of this compelling social history. Sigmund Freud, founder of psychoanalysis; Edward Bernays, who invented public relations; Anna Freud, Sigmund's devoted daughter; and present-day PR guru and Sigmund's great grandson, Matthew Freud. Sigmund Freud's work into the bubbling and murky world of the subconscious changed the world. By introducing a technique to probe the unconscious mind, Freud provided useful tools for understanding the secret desires of the masses. Unwittingly, his work served as the precursor to a world full of political spin doctors, marketing moguls, and society's belief that the pursuit of satisfaction and happiness is man's ultimate goal.
