Carnival Row is a fantasy-noir set in a neo-Victorian city. Mythical creatures fleeing their war-torn homeland have gathered in the city, and tensions are simmering between citizens and the growing immigrant population. We follow the investigation of a string of unsolved murders which are eating away at whatever uneasy peace still exists.
Just watched 2x5. Damn, season 2 is quite a bit bloodier than season 1 was. :D
Just finished up 2x9. You're right.. :D the term "blood & Guts" couldn't be applied much more literally than S2.
Well unless ep10 finishes with some piss poor excuse of an ending, I'm about to rate this no less than a 9/10. Not simply for this reason but, I think the budget was feature film like.
Sadly it did end with a pisspoor excuse of an ending but the show was very good.

Based on the trailer, Ripper Street has no fantasy and less or no sex... the Ripper story has been around for ages, so I wouldn't call Carnival Row a rip-off.

There's a Jack the Ripper subplot, yes, but the show would be good even without knowing anything about Jack the Ripper. :)
well so far I think its a rip off of Ripper Street

I just started to watch this. Ripper Street with fairy folk and jack the hammer rather than jack the ripper? Oh and bare breasted fairy prostitutes who tend to fly when they get excited ( lol ). Very high production values. Is this meant to be Ripper Street in a parallel universe?

It had a rocky start, for me, but it picked up and I liked it over-all... I'd be happy to see a second season.
