15 contestants leave their current lives to create their own ideal mini-society while being followed by hundreds of cameras. They will spend one year in a place where no rules or laws exist. All the participants - aka "inhabitants" - in the show have been given is an empty barn on an undeveloped piece of land, some cows and chickens, water and electricity connections, one phone and a sum of cash to create their environment and survive for the first few months. Like in Big Brother, the Utopia participants nominate fellow inhabitants for elimination in a process in which the viewers also vote to nominate a contestant for elimination.

The talent is first seen in a Blind Audition where the coaches are going to have to pick 4 singers who are going to be good for them to coach. Each week an elimation resulting in one person on their team to compete for the title as The Voice in a live finale. The coaches on the show are Keith Urban, Seal, Delta Goodrem and Joel Madden.
Four celebrity artists each will form teams of singers that they will coach and mentor throughout the competition. Individuals will be eliminated until each celebrity only has one team member left who will compete in the finals to be named "The Voice of America" in a live finale.
