Kingdom Hospital is a TV series set in a hospital in Lewiston, Maine. The hospital was built on the site of a mill fire that killed many children during the Civil War. Based on Lars von Trier's masterpiece series, Stephen King's take on Kingdom Hospital is a story about the supernatural events that occur in the hospital.

Based on this show, Stephen King wrote his "Kingdom Hospital". Originally created for Danish television as Riget, Morten Arnfred and Lars von Trier's supernatural thriller "The Kingdom" chronicles the bizarre occurrences at the title hospital, the largest and most respected hospital in the country.
