I saw an interesting theory posted by one of the prominent YouTubers:

Some of Rose's energy had been absorbed into the TARDIS in the episode "Heart of the Tardis".
In this finale The Doctor shoots a bunch of regeneration energy into the console and heart of the tardis.
Its possible that Rose was somehow regenerated into Rose - But not as the Doctor. Leaving the door open to whomever gets selected to still be the doctor and Rose to still be Rose.

one of the problems with Ncuti he looked like some one from "The Black and White Minstrels" I wont say the G.W word.

Well, before super-flambouant, emotional Doctor Tennant did a mini-arc over three episodes resulting in the just-gone travesty-Doctor so the same may be planned for Rose-Doctor turning into a (hopfully-decent) successor

Had to watch the ender much like the week before: FF 10 min, get a 1-2min status, FF 10min, get a 1-2min status.
Which makes sense since it carried over from episode 7. There are listed as parts 1 and 2.

Gawd how bloody awful. That's all I can say.

One positive comment:
The few minutes of Jodi Whitaker at the end was the best they've let her do. I like her as an actor and she was directed to death during her own seasons. Here she got to be alive and interesting and hold the stage for 5 minutes.

Then the big reveal:
Ok. Rose Tyler huh? Not sure how that's going to work - assuming they actually manage to green-light another season. I mean, who's going to pay for another season after these dismal last 5 or so? Oh yeah, Disney.

So it wouldn't actually be Rose. Its still The Doctor, wearing a Rose Tyler body. So can Billie Piper play The Doctor? Can't do it worse than Ncuti Garland did, right? She was a lot more serious in "Secret Diary of a Callgirl."

But wow - they just really want to beat that girl-boss thing until they do finally destroy the show, huh? Russel Davies just *will not* give in to writing a decent season with a male doctor, do things like they did for 2005-2008 or so just to get viewer numbers and income back on track, then give the girl thing another go. I think he's scared that if they tried it and it WORKED it would be the nail in the coffee for this Doctor Woke junk. He can't afford that confirmation.

in my opinion every doctor since 2005 was a great doctor except for the Ncuti. I loved 9th 10th 11th and 12th doctors. Even the female doctor was good but suffered bad writing. Ncuti just doesnt have a character except for being woke. it is sad how a show falls like this.

Get rid of Ncuti

Apparently that's now what they've done. After 2 seasons he's finished.

Tom Baker and David Tennant were the best doctors by far IMO. I haven't watched it in a long time, last time I watched it was when David Tennant morphed into Jodie Whittaker's and that was it for me, it wasn't the fact that she's woman it was just not gripping enough.

I started watching when it started back in the 1960s with William Hartnell and was always something to get the pulse racing in the 60s and 70s, maybe it was because I was a teenager then I don't know.

Let's hope their next choice is someone with a bit more charisma and fun too.

They need to leave it 5-10 years, purge the woke writers from Disney and the BBC, retcon everything since 2018, then it might have a chance to regain mainstream popularity.

I've been a fan since Tom Baker (who will ALWAYS be my favourite Doctor). Will the show ever be like that again? Of course not, but I live in hope that *somehow* they'll manage to bring back

Right there with you 100%
In that spirit of hope I've been following this current incarnation. But last nights s02e07 was just unwatchable, even on the basis of "fast forward 10 mins, check to see what's going on, FF 10 mins, does the magic fantasy bs. end and now become the story?" etc. And I couldn't do it: It was just THAT bad. Horrible ... well... everything. Terrible acting, body movement, green screen flying that was worse than Flash Gordon or original Wizard of Oz.

It was just so fraking horrible I couldn't even make it to the end even with jumping 10 mins at a time then peeking in on it.

I used to be a huge fan as a kid, was a member of the Dr Who fan club back in the 80's. I've since become so disgusted with what it has become, I've sold my vintage novel collection from the 80's and I've noticed a large number of other fans dumping their collections over the past few years as well.

The sad truth is it's not possible, those days are gone and they need to just let. It. Go.

*sigh* :(
