In the distant future, Captain Malcolm 'Mal' Reynolds is a renegade former brown-coat Sargent now turned smuggler/rogue who is the commander of a small spacecraft with a loyal hand-picked crew, where they travel the far reaches of space in search of food, money, and anything to live off on.
the only way a animated firefly would be any good is if the used state of the art computer animation
with everything on max settings for the most real life render as possible... scifi the shiit out of it
none of that jankey retro, minimalist, or anime style.. that had all been done to death
the target audience is not children or teens.
if the stories are good enough a bigger audience will follow,
I dunno, The Mandalorian and Andor certainly were entertaining. I guess I'll hold out hope. I did for Wheel of Time... surely it can't be as bad as that massive letdown was.
Mandalorian had a good first and second seasons. Then they got nasty and dumped Gina. The show got worse. It should always have been the Bobba Fett show, but once they transferred all his qualities to a new Mando that left Fett basically neutered. They had to scrap the plans for a season 4 and shoehorn it into a movie that looks pretty cheap if the special effects in the trailers are any indication. It reads like the cuts scenes of a video game.
Andor - Glad you liked it. I thought it was slow a.f. The second season had no originality to it: It was the French resistance against the Nazi's, but with different names and barely different costumes. Even the language sounded French. It very much seemed like some just remade a documentary.
With Disney owning the rights to Firefly if they remake it, it will be like the last two seasons of Doctor Who that killed that 60 year franchise. Or look like Starfleet Academy. No thanks. I'd rather rewatch lightning-in-a-bottle than have them piss all over it and try to call it rain.

This will not be what you think it is. And yes it will be terrible.
They cannot do a before timeline, too many years have passed.
And if they do a 10 year later arc it will be horrible.
The dynamic of the crew has been killed by the death of Mr. Glass and the on screen death of the pilot.
And this is Disney. If you can screw up Star Wars. What chance does Firefly have.
So put your hopes back in your pocket and enjoy life.
Nothing to see here.

As a huge Firefly fan, fantastic news! It was a amazing show, but .. think about it. Is it THAT good, really? It's more cheesy than anything else, and for me that's one of its qualities, its also quite weird.
I think, one of the biggest reasons why it got such a huge following is the fact that it was cancelled prematurely, it became unobtanium.
honestly??? it was not FANTASTIC, BUT it had a ton of potential. we got 13 episodes of mostly pretty darn good tv. it only would have taken a little more support from the network to kick it up a few notches to really damn good tv...
only the producers really know if there was some kind of long term plan ( there should have been if the movie was the answer)the movie really ended the chance of the gritty universe surviving.
the show was dark and bright at the same time...and quite cheesy in parts...
in the long run people want what could have been for firefly....( like 7 seasons of castle quality acting and story, really good mostly ,(mostly at night))

Lots of series that are cancelled prematurely has potential. But You're right, if they had more support from the studio it would of course be better just in terms of production quality, but its not a guaranteed win. I'm not against a reboot at all, its awesome, but I'm not very optimistic about the results, reboots are rarely good, only worthy exception right now is scrubs, which so far managed to almost reflect the original series (last seasons excluded of course, they sucked donkeyballs).

i dont see how they could have season 2, didn't they pretty much kill everyone in the movie?
or is this going to be a prequel??? because those are always worth.... not a damn thing.
the only way i can see any new story, movie ,season or anything else being anything worth watching is
all new actors, all new characters,
maybe same old ship same universe
new story starts from the very beginning.
which would pretty much give us the mandalorian.... LOL.

In todays climate, as it were, I'm pretty sure it will become a mediocre show which tries way to hard to be the same but cannot since studios -have- to adhere to some fantasy DEI and inclusion rules and it won't be aired without it. Disney is especially bad at this and they never learn as we've seen countless times lately. They care more about adhering to artistic limitations than promoting artistic creativity.
Of course, I hope it will be good and I wish the cast all the best but I'm not holding my breath for this being what we all hope it will be.
