Thanks, i saw the first season or two of Young Sheldon, but then I think I recalling feeling that got boring and repetitive so I dropped it. Maybe ill consider picking it up again.
A few seasons of Young Sheldon is enough context, in this one simply are few of the same characters.

I wouldn't say it's necessary, but knowing a little bit about the characters from Young Sheldon helps getting into it.

For a sitcom it is very good. It is in the context of Young Sheldon and has many references to it, both direct and implied. You can watch, but will miss some 25% of jokes context (stuff like Georgie mother is religious, sister edgy, grandma previous adventures etc. - there is no character building for them, the expectation is that you already know).
