Behind the scenes of one of the most dangerous professions. 'Local Heroes: In the Line of Fire' takes a look behind the scenes of one of the most dangerous professions in the world: that of firefighter. More than 400 firefighters including officers, divers, climbers and ambulance officers watch over the safety of Ghent and Antwerp. They are ready 24/7 to pull out immediately. But also the emergency center, where the first emergency call comes in, and the outposts of the Ghent and Antwerp fire brigade, are of crucial importance. For over one hundred shifts, a camera crew followed every intervention and training of the Ghent and Antwerp fire brigade. And where the camera crew has to stay at a distance, the bodycams and helmet cameras of the firefighters take over. This is life as it really is.
