The show is on my list, its IMDb score isn't too promising though...

Despite feeling like most of the folks who take to the intertubs to rate stuff are just here to complain... as for critics are about as useful as a self-sealing stem bolt, that being as it is I actually decided to check out those numbers on IMDb you mentioned and you are not wrong, those are not high numbers.

What I found interesting was they breakdown those ratings if you click on the number (I hadn't realized this was an option) and according to User Ratings Demographic out of the 3,764 people who rated the series the largest single percentage of folks rated it 10 STARS whereas the lowest percentage rated it 2 STARS. Also it seems as though the series is more popular with viewers who identify as female.

Not sure why this is fascinates me so but I do find these stats interesting
Yeah, those stats are often interesting! The number of 10/10 ratings alone is not so interesting, especially for new shows that number is often high, and sometimes apparently based on bought ratings (that's what I read).

When you compare them (https://www.imdb.com/title/tt10937180/ratings/) with - for example - Messiah (https://www.imdb.com/title/tt7671598/ratings/), you can easily see that I Know What You Did Last Summer has less audience appeal.

Well to some end part of the issue there may be that while Amazon & NETFLIX might have a lot of the same older content, NETFLIX just markets their original content more aggressively. In fact, I actually don't think I saw any adverts for I Know What You Did Last Summer (the series) which is now up to 4,473 user votes, whereas Messiah, a relatively recent series having premiered on NETFLIX in 2020, is up to 40,943 user votes.

That being said I'm really not sure a horror series like I Know What You Did Last Summer has an easy time landing an audience. I am not what you would call a Horror Fan per say... I like some horror sure but I also rather enjoy some Edwardian Era Romances as well as Vampire Sit-Coms and all sort of Superhero nonsense... So I'm probably not the target for this series :/

I Know What You Did Last Summer (The TV Series):

In a town full of secrets, a group of teenagers are stalked by a mysterious killer a year after a fatal accident on their graduation night...

Lennon Grant returns home after her first year at college and discovers that someone knows the terrible secret she and her OG crew of friends swore to keep last summer. The estranged friends reunite to try and figure who might have revealed their secret or who else knows what they did – which leads to murder.

So far, it's a pretty compelling story... better than the original movie IMO!
