After achieving success in her younger years, a brilliant septuagenarian, Madeline Matlock rejoins the work force at a prestigious law firm where she uses her unassuming demeanor and wily tactics to win cases and expose corruption from within.
1/3 through the season. It's a decent enough lawyer show to keep you entertained.
The characters at the law firm are all interesting and fun to watch. The cases are a bit soft but that's ok for me.
The family drama though....
The main story about her daughter...the writers do not manage to make me care for that storyline at all.
Matlock herself just comes off as manipulative, I don't like her character. The old lady sympathy card gets old real fast.
A few flashbacks of the daughter would be a good way to make you care for the character but so far I don't know her at all.
The grandson...ugh, very poorly written character. Yes, kids these days can do a lot with computers but creating fake identities that fool a high profile law firm? Come on...
And the husband has no personality of his own...basically just there for her to play off.

The trailer was good, many known faces. I'll probably still skip this one, not enough hours in a day...

I have never watched the original Matlock show, so fresh eyes here without any comparison made.
The Pilot was ok, not sure if this will continue as a lighthearted comedy or drama. Guess it will keep being both.
Great seeing Jason Ritter on screen here, great actor and good character.
Too bad Beau Bridges only seems to have a smaller role.
Overall good cast and likeable characters.
Really, no one is going to ask for a CV? ;)
It feels somehow weird that she keeps mentioning the "old" Matlock show. It is not described as a remake, but when it walks like a duck and talks like a duck... - isn't this breaking the fourth wall basically?
The end for the case felt a bit too easy...recorded 911 call from 26 years ago?, very convenient.
The end for Matty...did not see that one coming !
