Melodifestivalen (English: The Melody Festival) is an annual song competition produced by Swedish public broadcaster Sveriges Television (SVT). It determines the country's representative for the Eurovision Song Contest, and has been staged almost every year since 1958. The national final has been named Melodifestival since 1967 and Melodifestivalen since 2001. The program is one of Sweden's most viewed.
