NBC will offer tv shows for free
Not that any of us will stop downloading tv shows from torrent trackers, but it's good to see a move in that online-tv-shows-distribution area from one of the big guys ...
With Arashi updating the news section, I felt the urge to improve something on the site - so there - the much desired [1, 2] feature to distinct active from inactive shows in the watchlist is now implemented.
So I spent all Sunday checking out new shows and I must say Im pretty happy with the outcome. I almost checked if they were recommended before, but hell, I cant be bothered. And seeing as this is the second time I write this update, thanks to the amazing short sessions on the admin panel of the site Im not taking any flak today.
Anyway, the first thing I saw was recommended by the man-to-blame for the short sessions Santah. Its a dark, cynical, very sexual comedy starring David Duchovny as a smart mouth New York writer stuck in LA. Its called Californication and while I wont recommend it straight away, I will tell you that it airs in the same hour as Weeds on Showtime. So if you dig Weeds, definitely give it a shot.
Next up is a show with a crappy, crappy name Bionic Woman. Its a remake of a show that aired back in the 70s. If that sounds familiar, youre right its from the guys that brought us Battlestar Galactica. It even has Katee Starbuck Sackhoff as an evil robot woman. Bionic Woman definitely has potential, even if the main star is not that hot. I would, however, recommend waiting for it to air next Wednesday, as the pre-airs quality is nothing to write home about.
Speaking of hot women and robots, I finally saw the pilot of The Sarah Connor Chronicles. And man, oh man, is it good. Im not sure if thats because the shows really that awesome or me loving it has to do with the terminators being a big part of kid Arashi formation as a proper man-nerd. It is, however, very true to the terminator mythos and has a more than decent cast featuring Summer Glau (River from Firefly/Serenity), Thomas Dekker (Zach from Heroes) and Lena Headey (the queen from 300). Lena Headey actually deserves a full sentence on her own, as she pulls an awesome batshit insane Linda Hamiltonesque Sarah Connor. I havent been this hyped for a show in a long, long time. January cant come soon enough.
Someone linked this flash game to me the other day. It's ingenious and people should take note and start making more like it. GIVE MOAR INTERNET. The only real problem is that the levels aren't associated with passwords, so if you accidentally close the tab with the game you have to start over. That reminds me -if you need to replay a level be very careful when clicking "replay level" - the right button says try level 1, the left button says replay level. DO NOT CLICK THE RIGHT BUTTON. PAIN AND ANGUISH LAY THAT WAY.
Ahem. Anyway, here's a funny commercial, that you've probably seen. It was linked to me a couple hundred thousand times yesterday so I guess it's either doing the rounds or is front paged at digg or whatever. Enjoy. I didn't. Moving, talking, ninja fighting babies creep the living hell out of me.
Hey guys, Arashi here. I have officially sold my soul to our overlord Santah, so I'll be updating the news for a while. Since we all know how serious I am, never hesitate to use the awesome PM system to send me newsworthy links and stories. I promise to never give you credit and claim all the glory for myself.
Anyway, on to the news - make sure and check out Journeyman if you're into SciFi. It is a time travel show, starring Kevin McKidd (Lucius Vorenus from Rome), it's supposed to first air on the 24th but the pilot is already floating around. It's relatively meh, but has some promise and hooks. And as everyone knows I thought Heroes' pilot was meh so this show will probably rock my socks. Noone knew? Bleh, there goes my credibility.
