Movies section update - facelift and new features
, I've made some updates to the
section. There are many changes, but the biggest are:
new browse section, to help you discover movies by year and genre
new (and much requested) "hide" button to remove movies from all discovery charts
the discovery charts are now linked more prominently and have their own pages
(they don't simply show on top of your movies)
upcoming movies now pulls data from Next Episode (used to pull it from themoviedb.com)
overall all charts should load faster and be prettier and easier to navigate
Take a look and let me know how it works for you and if anything is broken or can be improved!

it seems ok apart from the fact I cant add movies to my movies any more...

What happens when you click the "add to my movies" button?

Loving the new Hide button. It does seem to load a bit better, but surprisingly I kinda miss the old Hot/Trending icons. I'll get used to the text soon enough though :)
New Browse section is cool.
The only problem now is that every time I hit the Next button, I still need to hit the Previous button again to see all the movies that disappeared on the load (as much as 20 movies every time). Two steps forward, one step back :D
A continuous load, or a Load more button would be much appreciated, if you can't make the list just stop refreshing itself on every Next/Previous click. :)
Aesthetically speaking, while in the movie discovery mode (Browse/Hot/Trending) I would love it if the lists had the covers at least twice as tall, but still show all the text beside them. (like so: https://app.box.com/s/y5p523j8yfud11691u4rgnpqlcbpm9d7 )
That would certainly make each page considerably longer down, but would make browsing much quicker and comfortable, since the covers are pretty much illegible as they are now. There's no difference in load times, since it would use exactly the same picture, but the UI would be much improved IMO.
I also really don't like that the Add/Remove/Hide buttons disappear and need to be moused over for them to appear. I don't see the improvement in the look, but it certainly makes the UI worse.

For now, simply hit F5 to refresh the list, no need to hit Previous. I agree it can and will be improved.
How does hiding the buttons behind a mouse over make the UI worse? If you add each and every movie on the movies charts - maybe. But if you only occasionally add a movie once every couple of days - having those buttons there, visible all the time for all rows - doesn't make much sense. This is also in line with the rest of the site, where on all shows charts and lists - these buttons show only on mouse over.
Regarding bigger thumbnails - I'll consider it :)

the add to my movies button isn't there any more
comment # 6 by
doesn't it show up if you mouse over a movie?

I have tried mouse over nothing happens, I have touched anything so nothing has been disabled

Hm, investigating ...

I see that the URL now contains the page I'm on (it didn't yesterday) so F5 will work splendidly, thank you. :)
What is the point of the movies discovery (Browse / Hot / Trending) if not to add movies to my own list?
For me, that it the only purpose of that feature, so having to 'find' the buttons to add them to my list or hide them for every movie is counter-productive. That's what I mean by the UI being worse because of it :)
Of course, I mostly scroll with my mouse in the blue outer border, not inside the white frame. If I scroll there, obviously the buttons are visible ~70% of the time.
Also, although I haven't tried it on my tablet, I assume any mouse-over action at all is super bad for all mobile viewing, since there's no mouse to 'over' :D

@snackatack2000 - thanks for reporting this. There was indeed a bug that would prevent this from working on some browsers. Can you please confirm if it's fixed now?
@ArniVidar - the URL contains the page since yesterday's update :) I agree it's not optimal for tablet use, will consider improving it!

I am wondering if I am missing something trying to use the list. Is there is a easy way to remove a movie from the list? A little "x" like you have for TV Shows would be great in list format. For some reason when I choose of unwatched/unaquired movies, Movies I didn't mark to follow and would never watch are on the list. I have been trying to delete them one by one but the process is tedious.

my previous comment refers to looking at the movie list when you click on the word movie and "My Movies" I did notice the little red x on the other discovery pages but not the one for "My Movies". Not sure how all those extra old films showed up there and I want to get rid of the ones I don't have and don't want to watch.

@Bingewatcher415 From My Movies, click on a movie name and then the "remove from watchlist" button to remove them from your list.

I tried that. It works but is cumbersome. Seems to require a refresh every time I do this.
My biggest problem is that My Movie list has 100s if not 1000s of movies on that I never aquired and it is listing them as aquired and on my watch list. There were movies from the last century that I never asked to track or add. Found about .5% of those on there I might have had an interest in. Perhaps my account has a corrupted Movie database from being a member so long and the new improvements?
a) is there a way to clear the movie database for my account? I can easily repopulate it with the next-episode.net kodi addon for movies I have aquired.
b) is there a setting to *NOT* have every movie released and/or added to next-episode.net added to My Movie watchlist? I'd rather pick which movies I want to track and watch. This is really important. I don't want to spend hours maintaining Movies.
The TV side of the site is most excellent and a time saver. My movie list is a challenge and I hope there is an easy solution for you and me. I'd like to start with a clean movie list, and the ability to manually add movies instead of having the system add every new movie that is released

The site does not add each movie released to users profiles.
You encountered some kind of a bug (due to the KODI add-on) which I will now investigate and will clear your movies and will let you know.

Firefoc 57.0 (the new Firefox Craptum) won't show add movie button even when Java is enabled on the site. Impossible to add movies.
