iCal Export - Next Episode

For reasons beyond me, iCal format export feature for the Calendar has been requested numerous times, so - there - it's now available.

Go to the Calendar and click the Export to iCal File link. This should export the calendar as you see it (with all the settings and filters) into .ics file.

As I haven't really used that format (at all), I may've missed something important in the iCal file, so please - let me know how this works and if it's useful to you. Enjoy!

Update: iCal export now gives a personalized link so that you can use it wherever and it'll still use your personal settings.

Update 2: Fixed a bug which prevented the url to be imported to Google Calendar (an .ics extension had to be added to the URL)

Good job on getting the calendar working. Tis purty! But! When I tried to add it to my google calendar, it doesn't just show my shows but ALL shows.. I added the URL http://next-episode.net/export_calendar?month=12&year=2008

Is there a way of referencing my calendar (the one with only my watched shows on it) by URL? I would be happy to tick a box saying "Make my watchlist public" :)

Anyway thanks again for the calendar! You seem to pump out these new features at a pretty rapid rate

No appreciation because this box thingy was broken, couldn't type a response. But well done anyways, I don't use iCal, but I'm sure its very useful.

don't add the url smiler, download the .ics file and import it to google calendar

Yeah I figured you could do that, but then you'd have to do it every week/month/other to keep it up to date. Or am I wrong?

month, but yeah, and google works like that even if you import by url I think? you have to import everytime you want it to refresh? or am I wrong here?

How should Google (or iCal or Sunbird…) be able to do this differently? N-E doesn't offer a way to authenticate via the URL, so if you just give Google the URL, it'll download to it's own server whatever information is publicly available without logging in. There should be some kind of personalised link, like there is for the Watchlist signature image thingies…

Hi guys, great feature, but i think you missed the point with the ical format. The point of ical is to subscribe to and ongoing calender, similar to an RSS feed. Exporting the current calender to ical format without being able to update it, serves little point if any.

With the .ics extension Google shows me everything. Without it, it works fine in iCal…

Timezone support doesn't seem to work when the iCAL file is imported into Google Calendar. Displays correctly on the Next Episode website. Please fix
