Most desired new feature, bring it on
Yeah - it's
time of the year. We ask you once again - what's the feature you're missing the most around here?
Or maybe you want something improved in a way?
Now's the time to let us know what can be added/improved or maybe even removed? Once I gather enough ideas - I'll run a poll, and the top choices will be implemented. Go ahead now, request away!

I'm sure I've mentioned it before, but how about an 'About Us' feature where each of the admins/mods has a blurb about them and what they do for the site, that can include useful links - like to the email to submit babes, or how to report spam, or to that topic in the forums where people without TV.com accounts can request changes of those who do (i.e. Orlando).
Ooh, or that other feature I thought of a while back, where I can create top 10 lists of babes. Like the top 10 babes in water, the top 10 sci-fi babes, or the top 10 babes who have won Oscars... And I could invite people who please me to generate their top 10 lists to have displayed on the site. ;D
comment # 3 by
dont know if we have this or not but i cant find it
can we get a top 10 series list which lists the top 10 series people have added on their watch lists
would be nice to see what the majority of this website are watching and will give ideas to others :)
And I'm going to keep bugging you to put up the list of users who have given donations too. :P
comment # 5 by
YaY, funky graphic!
Silly, I have already left a really long and detailed post on this topic so it would be nice if you could include the comments from the earlier post
comment # 8 by
an iphone version of the website :) Pretty much the only thing I come here for on my phone is to look at the watchlist it would just be nice to not have to zoom in :)
I second decrypt3r's idea...
I would like to see a monthly view of my watchlist episodes. Something that looks like a page from a calender. Hey! you could even have a 'babe of the month' as the picture for said calender

A profile page for showing of everything you watched should be amazing.
Is there a feature to get e-mail notifications of the shows' episodes I watch the day they are out? I sometimes forget about n-e and that shows exist at all, but I always check my mailbox in the mornings.
I second decrypt3r's idea... (2)
If not an e-mail notification, how about a RSS feed that has a list of new episodes on our lists.
I think a decrypt3r's idea is good but it should include only active shows so that it shows what is hot at the moment, or 2 lists: current and all-time and maybe the most discussed show on our forums...
I posted it some days before in the other feature request comments, I'd like a feature at the "stuff to watch" page to select the "current" season and hide the others, so that not only the first season with unwatched episodes or all seasons are displayed.
How about an iPhone app or a mobile version of the site? I'd happily pay for the app.
I would realy like a "New" tag on new shows(s01e01/00) would be cool :D
comment # 20 by
Better tv shows! ;-)
decrypt3r's idea is not bad at all :)
LordRoy, I know there was an RSS feed avaliable, but I can't find the link ATM. Try searching a bit ...
Oh and sorry, LordRoy.. I just remembered. The RSS feed I was thinking about was from tvtorrents :)
Forgot that I wanted a feature too ... How bout a notification if someone else posts a comment after you did? Like some kind of a thread subscription on a forum...
The ability to have every show on tv.com on here, instead of requesting :) also, the ability to have a longer before/after time period for the ICS feed.
If I hover over a show name in my watchlist I'd like it to show me numbers for all the known upcoming episodes. Like: (1, 8, 15)
I almost want to copy/paste my suggestion since a few weeks ago when it was asked for suggestions.
To make torrent links a reality where people just add a torrent link, where it is open sourced and everyone can add one, and people could close it and even rank it. This way the admins would be free of finding the torrents, and people could shine helping others finding good links, and since everyone here is such a trooper, I believe this could work. You would have to log in to make the link and the link would always be credited to the submitter. If this feature doesn't work, it can always be removed.
Torrents are a legally gray area, which could spell trouble for this site.
they would never be from this site. It wouldn't be a torrent site, It could be referred as a link suggestion, or a info provided by fans.. just a bit misdirected.. the sites providing trackers I believe are the once in trouble. But I do understand this perspective.

Ability to share watch lists with friends. So we have the ability to know what our friends have downloaded/(watched) so we don't have to downloaded/(watch) :)
Maybe something along the lines of - You add your friends to a grouplist. When you log in, you get a message saying friend "A" has downloaded program "ABC", friend "B" has downloaded program "XYZ", or these messages are flagged next to your watchlist, just a thought on how it could work....
Just a note - In the new poll, clicking the "Discuss" button doesn't bring me to the actual topic. I think you want the link to be "http://forum.next-episode.net/viewtopic.php?id=3898" instead of "http://forum.next-episode.net/viewforum.php?id=69"
It's not supposed to msopnet. The Discuss link is there with every poll, so it would mean having to redo it every time we create a poll to go to the right topic, so we just leave it on the parent level Polls forum. :)
We trust (and hope) that our users have enough intelligence and common sense to know where to go.
Ah, I figured the Discuss link was poll-specific. Like one of the inputs when configuring a new poll. Doesn't matter though.
But don't make the mistake of setting your hopes too high.
5 is the classiest; 3 flashes too much.
About the RSS feed its at the bottom left of the page :)
Definately an iPhone app so we can keep track of our favourite shows whilst on the move.
Android app :P
Option to check episode as watched on the home page.
ooh could i pick 2 and a half? But they all kinda do the same thing :P
iPhone app would be cool, likewise would be a slightly more friendly iphone page setup ... and lastly permanent calendar subscriptions (thinking iCal on Mac, but I'm sure this works on other stuff)
The ability to view specials of series as if they were normal episodes! There're none of the Doctor Who specials, despite the fact that there's at least one new one every year, so there's no way to record them in Stuff To Watch, and this year's been a year of specials, but the site doesn't tell us when they're coming! A proper indexing system to organise specials please!
to add a custom show. e.g. i watch something which is not on the site. i'd like a blank template, i can fill in the show title, set how many episodes, seasons it has, then add it to the stuff to watch list
comment # 40 by
More than anything else I want RSS for my upcoming shows. I move around a lot and using next-episode on iPhone is really not very good. Simple way to solve that is to have personal RSS feeds that go into my Google Reader which can act as reminders.
Or, failing that, Next-episode.net could integrate with to-do list managers like Remember the Milk.
Or, failing even that, an iGoogle or Google Desktop reminder gadget.
RSS feed that has a list of new episodes on our lists. Awesome idea!
look at the bottom of the page guys, there are RSS feeds available for probably more than a year now.
After reading all these suggestions for "new" features, I am suggesting a new feature that simply lists all the features already available...
I think I brought this up before, but could the main page know which shows have been marked as watched?
How about a feature that lets you export your watch lists into a file?
Santah: RSS feeds are sometimes behaving erratically. I just got a notice for 24 - 1x20 (aired 16 Apr, 2002), and Oz - 4x3 (aired 26 Jul, 2000).
Breaking news :)
I second jamesmackerness for specials and weird programming times.
Defying Gravity 1x09 is a normal episode that has actually been broadcast, but US-centric tv.com does not acknowledge this.
I would like to see some kind of popularity ratings on shows. I'm not quite sure how to implement this, but something to tell me what shows are really popular. This would help me find shows that I might be missing because I didn't know how good they were.
I think the calendar should go beyond the end of the month, so on the 30th you can still see what is coming up over the next couple of weeks on the first calendar page.
hi! thanks for NE!! Would be nice a mobile version of NE.
(first maybe second suggestion since i joined)
A botd voting "abstain" button... i would have prefered to abstain rather than vote very low... dunno if it would work/be useful, also show a number for abstanined users...
maybe a spell checker as you spelt improvements as inprovements on the main page :P
