Just a quick heads up, to clear any confusion about Dexter:

As the revival is now listed as a separate show on both TheTVDB and TVMaze (instead of it being a new season of the old show as it was up until today) - we now also have a separate entry for it - Dexter: New Blood. Cheers!

I got a email saying it was canceled, my first thought was I've only watched one episode lol. I've added the new show to watch list, loving it can't wait for sunday's again :)

Thanks for the update.
It would be good if this happens again to automatically add the new show to people's watchlist if the old show is in the watchlist so no-one misses the new show with the change of name. I think this may happen with the next season of Bosch

@Mythlandia yeah I was wondering if I should do that, but I can see it becoming a slippery slope where for some shows the line isn't as clearly cut as in this case and assuming people want the new show may be a mistake.

For now, I prefer not to mess with people's watchlists and only try and notify them ...

@santah: I agree. Maybe a PM like "Show X is on your watchlist, maybe you'll want to add show Y also: (link)" instead?

IMHO, It would be better to just have a "Recent Updates" section added above the "Latest topics from the Forums" widget on the Home page. This way people could see things like this Dexter update, but also any other recent updates to the site, but also they would know where to go to find these updates should they be curious.

I think a news post (like this one) which also comes with a notification alerting for high profile spin offs like this one will be good enough solution for something that'll happen fairly rarely.

Similar, but not the same, as CSI has multiple - multi-season spinoffs.
