Hiding specials on Next Episode

This isn't a new feature, but it's one many users doesn't seem to be aware of - I get almost daily requests from users to make it possible to hide specials (most likely because each episode of The Last of Us comes with 2 specials):

In your site wide settings, simply toggle on the "Don't show special episodes anywhere on the site". Cheers!

This is great, especially for those of us that watch a lot of anime & tv shows which produce specials that no one wants.

The only issue here is that it hides all of them. For example there's the "The Many Saints of Newark" (movie) Sopranos special or The Walking Dead webisodes that i definitely wanna see, but i couldn't care less about those "let's sit down, analyze and talk about the current episode" or the "making of" specials. That's why i prefer to keep the setting unchecked and just mark the majority of them as watched...i bet they're at least 5% of my 1 year 3 months time spent.

I agree with tstddj, but at the same time I understand it's impossible to do anything about. There are special episodes which I definitely want - series like Ghosts or Doctor Who has "specials" that are in fact standalone episodes I don't want to miss. Unfortunately, everything else also counts as specials, such as podcasts, behind the scenes etc.

If only sites like TVMaze/TVDB would separate "specials" from "extra material", then I feel like we wouldn't have this problem :p

@Zoostorm - indeed it is. Premium is free to try for a full month (and you can cancel at any time). I hope you'll check it out at some point and maybe find enough value to keep it!

Thanks for the reminder. I specifically chose to not hide the specials way back when, but I'd forgotten that this feature existed. :)

Mentioning that you need to be premium to activate it seems like a thing that should have been part of that news item.

agree with rocketman71 and Zoostorm that "FYI this is a premium feature" should have been included in the announcement. To be clear I don't disagree with the setting itself being premium, but definitely could've saved us all a collective thousands of clicks by mentioning this in the announcement :)
that being said we love the site and keep up the great work! Maybe I'll consider premium one day.

I agree with @tstddj that while I do want to see every 'holiday special' & 'special' movie event, ANALYSIS shows really seem like a separate show (talking about The Walking Dead for example); I just want recap shows to be listed separately from their parent shows because they're not the same things at all even if the creators labeled them s02e02 etc (which, I don't think they do; I think each recap show gets its own ep numbers, which is another sign they should be a separate listing...?) Mostly an issue with how creators namepromote their recap shows (not a problem with the site) but listing recap 'specials' as a separate series (with a You May Like to the actual show, at the bottom) seems like the most logical & expedient solution to me?

I'm going to look like such a dimwit but we are what we are.

I have seen the addition of what looks like multiple episodes but are designated as specials. I thought they were added episodes to extend or expand the story. But they are not there. So what are these specials? Are they the "podcasts that follow some shows" or the actors describing there methodology or just talking about the episode to get more advertising in? all that bullshit?
They are not shown as separate episodes are they.

Would somebody enlighten an old man? Please?
