My Lists now support movies

Tue Sep 29, 2026 - My Lists now support movies

My Lists just got an upgrade - along with TV shows, you can now add movies to your lists (or mix it up and keep movies and shows together in one list).

If you haven't used My Lists yet (or missed the revamp post last year), here's the quick version:

create as many lists as you like - "currently watching", "favorite Marvel movies", "best of 2025" etc.
every list is shareable - it has its own link you can send to friends or post in the forums
each list can be public or private
drag & drop to reorder, toggle between detail and thumbnail view, and it all works on mobile

A couple of examples: what I'm currently watching and my ranking of David Simon's shows.

Custom Lists (movies included) are also on the roadmap for the iOS and Android apps.

Check it out and let me know how it works for you - ideas and critique welcome as always. Cheers!

yay! finally :) thank you so much. ( a list import would be useful if doable )

Awesome addition.

Just a minor point: "Type at least 3 characters to search TV shows..." doesn't work for one or two letter shows: 24, 3%, ER, V.

@PedroPT - import from ... where?

@Wizard - it works with shorter titles as well (but you need to hit enter). I need to communicate it somehow/better though.

great! thanks much

@santah , in my case from idmb, but small lists easy to add it manually I guess so its not a must have :)

maybe a place in the forum to share lists, a pinned post would be cool.

How are you handling 'official release dates'?
IMdb has one date.
TMdb sometimes has a different date.
Wikipedia sometimes has a different date.
I've seen streaming sites that have different dates.
Plus, online mail order dvd/bluray stores sometimes have different dates according to their primary customer country location.

I've been searching for movies in the past but the date won't match up with catalog listings.
In frustration, I've adopted IMdb date as my primary labels.
Example: The Rivals of Amziah King (2025) k russell m mcconaughey is sometimes listed as a 2026 film because that's when it hit limited US theaters. It actually played at SXSW film festival on March 10th 2025 so its actual date is March 10, 2025 not August 14, 2026 or August 21, 2026.

I've noticed many Tubi and Fawesome titles and dates which are different as well.

Officially, Is there a rule of thumb at next-episode for setting official title/release dates?
This will come in handy when building custom lists with the correct movie or show.
I have an extensive collection of movies and shows in my library plus I build custom themed watchlists for my community forum and bulletin board. I've put a lot of work into making sure my info is correct.
I know you strive to make next-episode the best tracking site possible and many of us appreciate that.
Please, keep up the great work!

@ScreenHead - as movies come from themovedb.com, the release date we have is the primary themoviedb release date (or if there isn't one - US theatrical/digital/physical date as a fill-in).

Thank you! This is an excellent upgrade to My Lists! The entire app is amazing and useful!

These suggestions are only for added ease of use:
I discovered it's a little cumbersome to re-order a long list using drag & drop, such as trying to move the latest added record of a 30+ record list up to #1 position.
Maybe you could enable the screen to scroll when a grabbed (not yet dropped) title is dragged off screen (up or down); OR (maybe simpler), enable the list position number to be editable, so the user can change #50 to #3, then the list re-orders starting with that new entered position.

Also on re-ordering, could you provide a way to re-order the list by Title (primary order level) and/or Year (secondary order level)? This would be helpful for sorting long lists which include rebooted/re-made or prequel movies in the "Halloween" or "Star Wars" franchises, for example.

I don't find the list feature particularly useful in its current form, but it would be terrific if a list name could be used to filter the episode list. Seems like the obvious next step.

@RhynoByte - thanks for the feedback and suggestions

I've now improved scrolling while dragging (both on desktop and mobile) and it should be easier to manually rearrange your lists. Also added sorting by title and year!

@Ceolmhor - can you elaborate what you mean, filter the Episodes page by a list (from my lists) of shows they're in?

@santah - Awesome improvements! Thank you so much!
