It is about a group of five ordinary people who unexpectedly develop superpowers. They have little in common except for one thing: they are all Black South Londoners. It is down to one man, Michael Lasaki, to bring them all together in order to save the woman he loves.

The Responder features cop Chris, who works night shifts with his new rookie partner, Rachel. Each episode centers on a different shift, and the series is described as "wildly funny and painfully tragic." Chris is dealing with a marriage that is breaking down while policing Liverpool's criminal underbelly, and the show deals with the realities of policing in Britain and the complexities of Freeman's character.

All the while, not missing the opportunity to introduce the Bright Young Things to some of the twenty-first century's finest tunes.

The series following the life of Viva as she navigates the problems and pitfalls she faces on a daily basis as she grows up on a south London estate.
