In an industrial building on the outskirts of town, Police Commissioner Cagliostro (Lino Guanciale) takes in the scene before him: a man lies dead on the floor. In his ten-year career he's seen nothing quite like this. For the dead man is him - he is staring at his own murder scene. A vision of the future stops Cagliostro from exiting this world - he must stay to find his killer, because it is the only way to save the life of his wife, Anna (Gabriella Pession). The series is set in Italy in the midst of the political turmoil of the early 1990s and follows a young police detective attempting to root out corruption and organised crime.

In 1960s Rome, four young delinquents, nicknamed Ice, Lebanese, Dandy and Grand steal a car. Crashing through a police road block, the driver, Grand is crushed by the steering column. Back at their hideout, a small disused caravan near a beach, they are discovered by the police. Ice, Lebanese and Dandy run away, but are captured.
