Bryony Hannah

A mystery-of-the-week anthology starring fictionalised versions of famed crime novelists Agatha Christie, Dorothy L. Sayers, and G.K. Chesterton.

Rivals dives headfirst into the cut-throat world of independent television in 1986, where the shoulder pads are big and ambitions even bigger. In the fictional upper-class county of Rutshire, a long-standing rivalry between two powerful men is about to boil over: ex-Olympian, Member of Parliament, and notorious womaniser Rupert Campbell-Black, and his Rutshire neighbour Tony Baddingham, controller of the independent TV franchise Corinium Television. As tensions rise and rivalries deepen, there are spilled secrets, forged alliances, and snatched liaisons that draw wives, lovers, colleagues, friends, and families into their battle.

It's the 1950s and Jenny is a new young midwife who's just started a job in East End London. Join her as she makes friends with her colleagues of nursing nuns and encounters the lives of the families she treats.

Sharon Horgan stars as Helen, a falsely imprisoned woman who remains blindly optimistic in the face of an uncaring outside world and an insane prison life. She is joined by Jennifer Saunders as a deranged, "sexual Margaret Thatcher" prison governor, Bryony Hannah as her arsonist cellmate, and Geoffrey McGivern as her useless lawyer.
