Set in the United States District Court for the Southern District of New York, aka "The Mother Court", For the People follows brand-new lawyers working for both the defense and the prosecution handling the most high-profile and high-stakes federal cases in the country - all as their lives intersect in and out of the courtroom.
The show centers on a suddenly-single New Jersey housewife and mother in her early 40s who, unable to restart her career, decides to lie about her age and successfully passes herself off as a twentysomething. Armed with a makeover and new resume, she wins a coveted position at the city's hottest publishing company. Pretending to be "younger" doesn't hurt in the bar scene, either, as guys line up like never before.
Scott Bakula will lead the NCIS spinoff set in New Orleans as Special Agent Pride.
The character is described in casting notes as being "warm" and "driven to do what's right", while also embodying the city itself and being perfectly suited to the "unique region".
