Gone (2026)
Set against the backdrop of a prestigious private school, a foreboding forest and the quiet sprawl of Bristol, Gone, is a chilling mystery focusing on local Headmaster Michael Polly who becomes the prime suspect in his wife Sarah's disappearance. An upstanding member of the community, Michael Polly is inscrutable and likes order and precision in his working life. Until, that is, he encounters super bright, gutsy Detective Annie Cassidy and a compulsive game of cat and mouse begins as she chips away at his veneer in search of the truth.
Dangerous Liaisons (2022)
Dangerous Liaisons follows the Marquise de Merteuil and the Vicomte de Valmont, two narcissistic rivals and ex-lovers who use seduction to control and exploit others. It explores the world of the French aristocracy shortly before the French revolution. The series will tell the origin story of the early years of both characters when they meet as passionate young lovers in the slums of 18th century Paris.
The Worst Witch (2017)
Join Mildred Hubble in CBBC's adaptation of The Worst Witch books, written by Jill Murphy.
Mitch
In one of his less-appreciated roles, John Thaw plays Mitch, a hard nosed investigative crime reporter for a Fleet Street daily. Mitch is well known for getting to the heart of the matter, and handles the toughest cases with skill and vigour.
Pride and Prejudice (1980)
The arrival of a young, well-off, eligible man named Mr. Bingley sends the Bennet household-with five girls of a marrying age-into a tizzy. But it's the introduction of Mr. Bingley's friend, Mr. Darcy, that sets in motion the fate of Elizabeth Bennet, resolved only after a labyrinth of social and personal complexities. This superb BBC adaptation from 1980 zips along, thanks to lively performances, fluid direction, and a keen grasp of the wit of Austen's dialogue and her satirical characters, who range from clever and kind to utterly odious. Due to its faithfulness and deep appreciation of the material, this five-episode miniseries stands up against any other film or television adaptation, though Rintoul may not sets hearts aflutter the way Colin Firth did in the also excellent 1995 miniseries.
