In Plain Sight (2016)In Plain Sight (2016)
ITV, 2016 Cancelled/Ended | Drama, Crime, Mystery, Mini-Series
Rating: 3.7/5

In Plain Sight is a three-part mini-series based on the true story of Lanarkshire detective William Muncie's quest to bring to justice notorious Scottish killer Peter Manuel. Douglas Henshall (Collision, Shetland) takes the role of William Muncie whilst Peter Manuel is played by Martin Compston (Line of Duty). Muncie first arrested Manuel in 1946 for housebreaking, but also successfully convicted him for a string of sexual assaults. Manuel vowed revenge. Released from prison in 1955, Manuel embarked on a two-year killing spree, claiming eight lives in the close-knit communities of South Lanarkshire. Manuel evaded capture for so long because he was unlike anything the local police had ever encountered: A murderer without any discernible motive whose victims were chosen at random. Muncie was the one man who had Manuel's measure and doggedly refused to give up until Manuel was brought to justice.

Pride and Prejudice (1980)Pride and Prejudice (1980)
BBC Two, 1980 Cancelled/Ended | Comedy, Drama, Romance, Mini-Series
Rating: 1/5

The arrival of a young, well-off, eligible man named Mr. Bingley sends the Bennet household-with five girls of a marrying age-into a tizzy. But it's the introduction of Mr. Bingley's friend, Mr. Darcy, that sets in motion the fate of Elizabeth Bennet, resolved only after a labyrinth of social and personal complexities. This superb BBC adaptation from 1980 zips along, thanks to lively performances, fluid direction, and a keen grasp of the wit of Austen's dialogue and her satirical characters, who range from clever and kind to utterly odious. Due to its faithfulness and deep appreciation of the material, this five-episode miniseries stands up against any other film or television adaptation, though Rintoul may not sets hearts aflutter the way Colin Firth did in the also excellent 1995 miniseries.
