Masters of Reinvention
In this new six-part UKTV Original series, award-winning mechanical engineer, Dr Shini Somara, will turn to back copies of Practical Mechanics magazine - once the best-selling bible of British inventors -and challenge a dream design team to reinvent its vintage blueprints for the 21st century. Each week, Dr Shini will lead a diverse crew of engineers, crafters and gadgeteers as they try to update these vintage designs from the 30s, 40s and 50s and make them fit for purpose in the modern world.Working from a vintage shed on a Yorkshire airfield, the build teams will be drawn from a pool of returning experts, with Dr Shini allocating team members to the projects that most suits their skills. The reinvention challenges range from a build-at-home car, a boat and a camping trailer...to a pedal-powered washing machine, a burglar alarm and a lie detector. They've set themselves just four weeks - the time between each edition of the magazine - in which to design and build them.Filled with imaginative and ambitious designs - and combining old-fashioned DIY skills with clever modern technology - the series aims to re-ignite the nation's passion for innovation.
Richard Hammond's Crazy Contraptions
Engineering enthusiasts from around the UK must battle to create the most ingenious contraptions using everyday objects in Richard Hammond's Crazy Contraptions. Teams of contestants will go head-to-head to build their own Chain Reaction Machines. Super Factories
Super Factories will take viewers inside some of the most cutting-edge factories in the world, giving a unique look at machines that push boundaries to create things like the McLaren supercar and Tesla batteries, to the useful products that make everyday life possible, such as the inner workings of UPS and the journey of Amazon parcels.
Britain's Ancient Capital: Secrets Of Orkney
Orkney - seven miles off the coast of Scotland and cut off by the tumultuous Pentland Firth, the fastest flowing tidal race in Europe - is often viewed as being remote. Yet it is one of the treasure troves of archaeology in Britain.
Recent discoveries there are turning the stone age map of Britain upside down.
Rather than an outpost at the edge of the world, recent finds suggest an extraordinary theory... that Orkney was the cultural capital of our ancient world and the origin of the stone circle cult which culminated in Stonehenge.
In this new three-part series Neil Oliver, Chris Packham, Andy Torbet and Dr Shini Somara join hundreds of archaeologists from around the world who have gathered there to investigate at one of Europe's biggest digs.
Tomorrow's Food
