These Are the Days is an animated television series from Hanna-Barbera, originally broadcast on ABC from September 7, 1974, to September 27, 1975. The series, although critically acclaimed, only lasted 16 total episodes. Each episode had a run time of 30 minutes. The show was set at the turn of the 20th century, in an old town called Elmsville. It portrayed the everyday lives of the Day family, which consisted of a widow, her three children, and her father. Each episode featured the various family members and their interaction with friends and neighbors, usually ending with a lesson learned.

Mrs. Columbo, later rebranded as Kate Columbo, Kate the Detective, and Kate Loves a Mystery is a crime drama TV show. It was based on the wife of the titular Lieutenant Columbo, but neither Peter Falk nor the character of Lieutenant Columbo ever appeared or endorsed it. Despite the name change, poor ratings led to the series cancellation after 13 episodes in March 1980.

After five years playing Mary Richards' neighbor, friend, and landlady on The Mary Tyler Moore Show, Cloris Leachman began her own spin-off series. Phyllis Lindstrom returned home to her hometown of San Francisco following the death of her husband Lars. In her mid-40s, and with a teenage daughter to support, Phyllis moved in with Lars' scatter-brained mother, Audrey, and Audrey's second husband, Judge Jonathan Dexter. Phyllis found a job working as an assistant to Julie Erskine at Erskine's Commercial Photography Studio.
