A police procedural based on Michael Connelly's novels about Harry Bosch, a veteran police homicide detective with the Los Angeles Police Department. The pilot was written by Connelly and Treme co-creator/executive producer Eric Overmeyer, who are executive producing with Fabrik's Henrik Bastin and Mikkel Bondesen. Bosch has been at the center of or featured in 20 novels by Connelly, starting with the 1992 The Black Echo and most recently, last fall's The Black Box.

"Luck" will center on the inner-workings of the horse racing circuit, while highlighting the behind the scenes drama that includes excessive gambling. Hoffman's character Ace Bernstein, is described as "an intelligent, intuitive and tough man who has always been involved with gambling, from bookmaking to money laundering through a casino".

Sprawling Mario Puzo novel about an Italian family of gangsters draws the inevitable comparison to "The Godfather", but does find its own direction. Headed by Don Domenico Clericuzio (Aiello), the family executes a rival gang on the night of the Don's daughter's wedding, including her new husband, the son of his rival. Unfortunately the daughter (Alley) gets pregnant and the repercussions of the night drift into the future. Spanning 1964-1985, the series jumps forward with the growing up of the grandson (Cochrane) who has grown ruthless and scheming. A co-rival in the family is a nephew (Gedrick) who has been raise to take his father's (Mantegna) place in the family as a hitman and has established his place by assassinating a man who killed a Senator's daughter. However, he is proven to not be ruthless enough and moves into the family's casino business in Vegas. When the nephew falls in love with a beautiful actress (Hannah), everything is set in place for the grandson to set up a coupe to take over the family.

This series centers on a prominent defense attorney, Theodore "Teddy" Hoffman, and his associates. When an actor whose addicted to alcohol and drugs, who always gets into all sorts of scrapes, and relies on Teddy to bail him out, is accused and tried for murder, it's up to Teddy to save him.
