The series is about the life of John Doe, a mysterious man who rises from the primordial waters of an isolated island, possessing knowledge of literally everything in the world, yet having no memory of who he is. He quickly finds his way to Seattle, where he befriends the police and uses his special gift to help them solve "impossible" crimes.

A drama inspired by the real-life experiences of former New York Deputy Police Commissioner Jack Maple, The District revolves around Jack Mannion, a tenacious champion of the underdog and an avowed crime-fighter, whose revolutionary tactics have resulted in a 50-percent drop in crime.

This was a popular CBS drama series created by David E. Kelley that ran from September 18, 1994 to May 4, 2000. It took place in a fictional private hospital, Chicago Hope.
