The setting of the series was two years after the last episode of Batman, and to give it the whole time-jump feeling, many things in Gotham had changed. In the two years, Dick Grayson had retired from being Robin, and he traveled the world (like Batman) and returned to Gotham as Nightwing. Barbara Gordon became a full member of Batman's team as she became his main partner. Then, a new Robin, Tim Drake came into the gang and they became the knights of Gotham.

Steven Matrix was a hitman, until someone got the drop on him. Suspended between Heaven and Hell, the forces that be send him back to Earth to do their bidding. Each episode Matrix is guided to someone in need of help. Matrix is guided to this person by some mysterious person from the In-Between. In the process, Matrix begins to redeem his own bloodsoaked past as well.

Batman: the Animated Series was an animated series that premiered on September 5, 1992. The series was based on the popular Batman comics created by Bob Kane. The series focused on the adventures of Batman a dark vigilante hero who defends Gotham City from a variety of costumed villains

In this animated Hanna/Barbera series, the kingdom of Dar-Shan is placed under a curse by the evil Diabolyn, Queen Serena is desposed and her daughter Sarah and her husband Prince Cavan are exiled to Earth. Prince Cavan is stripped of his memories and believes he is John Cavanaugh, a rancher in the American Southwest. Sarah is unaware of her heritage until the day that Wildfire, an intelligent magical horse and the Royal Family's Champion, travels to Earth to bring Sarah to Dar-Shan and aid in whatever problem sthey have. Each week Sarah travels to Dar-Shan with Wildfire, typically to thwart the schemes of Diabolyn as she tries to take the throne and become Queen.
