The Emmy Awards
An annual award show that recognize achievement in television for the current year. It first aired on January 25, 1949 and has been aired annually ever since. Today, the Emmys air as the Daytime Emmy Awards and the Primetime Emmy Awards.
The Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson
In 1962, Johnny Carson became the host of The Tonight Show.
When Johnny started, the show was originating from New York and was taped on the same evening that it aired. Johnny was on all five nights and began his monologue when the show began at 11:15 pm. On his first show, Carson was introduced by Groucho Marx; Johnny's first words, reacting to applause as he walked onstage for the first time: "Boy, you would think it was Vice President Nixon."
Johnny's final telecast on May 22 1992 was a national event. A quiet reminiscence about the show's golden moments over the past 30 years.
The Academy Awards
The Academy Awards honors the best in the film industry. Each time, the Oscar trophies are given to honor the best films of that year. Each January, the the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences would give announce it's nominations and give out the golden statues in March. This annual events has been held since 1929.
Miss Universe Pageant
Since it's inception in 1952, the Miss Universe Pageant has given the world's most beautiful women from more than 80 countries something to vie for. Usually held in a different city each year, the live event spotlights contestants' performances in three categories: swimsuit, evening gown and interview. Along with the coveted title, one lucky winner wins a contract with the Miss Universe Organisation and the use of an apartment in Trump Tower in New York City. For one year Miss Universe travels the world to raise awareness of AIDS, stress the importance of disease control, and to spread a general message of peace.
