When a massive sinkhole mysteriously opens in Los Angeles, it tears a family in half, separating mother and son from father and daughter. When part of the family find themselves in an unexplainable primeval world, alongside a disparate group of strangers, they must work to survive and uncover the mystery of where they are and if there is a way back home.

At the 2016 Television Critics Association winter press tour, NBC Entertainment president Jennifer Salke revealed that the network had discussions with Dick Wolf about a fourth series in the franchise centered on the legal system called Chicago Law. Salke has since confirmed that the series is officially in development.

Finnigan's character works as a prosecutor and must navigate the challenges of bringing justice to those who commit heinous acts in seemingly peaceful communities.

However, when he is forced to raise his cousin's ten month-old daughter following a devastating accident, Kevin has to switch from the fast-paced life he's been leading to a working father overnight.

As a federal team, the group responds to emergencies all over the country: taking down elite bank robbers, drug kingpins, domestic terrorists, spies, jewel thieves, and corrupt cops. The unit is headed by authoritative Frank Donovan with undercover agents Jake Shaw and Alex Cross who runs all of the high-tech surveillance operations.
