The first contemporary television adaptation of George Simenon's beloved detective novels, the series reframes Maigret as an unconventional young detective with something to prove, a rising star in the Police Judiciaire, relentless in his investigations, with an uncanny ability to get under the skin of the criminals he is chasing and an unmatched knowledge of Paris and its inhabitants.

The Responder features cop Chris, who works night shifts with his new rookie partner, Rachel. Each episode centers on a different shift, and the series is described as "wildly funny and painfully tragic." Chris is dealing with a marriage that is breaking down while policing Liverpool's criminal underbelly, and the show deals with the realities of policing in Britain and the complexities of Freeman's character.

"Tin Star" is set in a remote Canadian mountain town, where the opening of a new oil refinery fronted by the mysterious Mrs. Bradshaw introduces the small town to a world of drug-dealers, prostitution and organized crime. Police chief Jim Worth is thirsty for revenge after the murder of a member of his family.

This is a re-imagining of the Frankenstein myth incorporating elements from the investigative and horror genre. The show is set in Regency London in 1827, and follows the investigations by Inspector John Marlott.

The series is set in rural-industrial 19th-century England ands is based on the historical archive of Quarry Bank Mill in Cheshire. It depicts the country at a time when the industrial revolution began to change the country beyond recognition forever.
