The Way taps into the social and political chaos of today's world by imagining a civil uprising which begins in a small industrial town.
Meet the Driscolls - an ordinary family, in an extraordinary story of life, death and survival. Caught in a chain of events and power struggles that ripple out unleashing civil unrest, they are forced to escape the country they've always called home and the certainties of their old lives.
Will they be overwhelmed by their memories of the past, or will the Driscolls lay their ghosts to rest and take the risk of an unknown future?
The story starts with a murder in Whitechapel. Four different detectives are trying to solve the murder in different time periods: 1890s overachiever Edmond Hillinghead, dashing 1940s adventurer Karl Whiteman, kickass female 2010s Detective Sergeant Shahara Hasan and Maplewood, an amnesiac from post-apocalyptic 2050, who brings a haunting perspective.
Together, the four set out to uncover a conspiracy spanning 150 years.

The Third Day

The Accident (2019)
The story centres on Polly, played by Lancashire, the wife of the local politician who championed the project. Their rebellious daughter, Leona, had led a group of friends who broke onto the site on the day of the explosion, but now is left with a lifelong disability after the disaster.
As communal grief gives way to a torrent of anger and blame, the community finds itself torn apart. Unwilling to accept that their children were to blame, the families cry for justice.
It falls to Polly to hold the community together, and to face the challenging truths that begin to emerge.

The Commander was created by Lynda La Plante, who has created other police dramas, such as Prime Suspect and Trial and Retribution. It is made by her production company La Plante Productions and broadcast on the ITV network. The role was created especially for Amanda Burton after La Plante saw her in an episode of Silent Witness.
