Bonn recounts the rise of Germany's Federal Republic after the terror of World War II. It focuses on a young woman who struggles to find her own place in a male-dominated society in the 1950s and the political tug-of-war between German's two rival intelligence services.

The story of a character is told who struggles with himself and the world and is allowed to shuffle the cards anew in each episode. But: what happens if the others suddenly behave as we would like them to? What happens to the "I" when the relationship to its environment is constantly changing, and new constellations with "the others" arise, which inevitably escalate?

Tackling often social issues, the series is well known and most of the time can win the Sunday night in the ratings. The concept of the Tatort has various teams investigating in different cities.
