Bonn recounts the rise of Germany's Federal Republic after the terror of World War II. It focuses on a young woman who struggles to find her own place in a male-dominated society in the 1950s and the political tug-of-war between German's two rival intelligence services.

The Franconian brewer Curt Prank (Mišel Maticevic) stole five host plots at the Oktoberfest in Munich in 1900 with bribery and blackmail in order to erect a gigantic giant tent for six thousand guests. That leads to war with the small traditional Munich breweries, which fear for their existence.

Cathrin Blake once came to Ireland from Germany to study there. She fell in love with the detective inspector Liam, had a son and worked as a police psychologist. When Liam suddenly disappeared without a trace, Cathrin lost the ground under her feet. It took a lot of strength to find her way out of this crisis. She still works as a psychologist today, albeit no longer with the police, and lives with her son Paul. She left the past behind, but then the bones of buried children and those of a grown man are found in a monastery: Liam! Suddenly the past is there again with all its unresolved, agonizing questions.

Solveig Karlsdóttir is a crime writer in Reykjavik, even a very successful one, which can be surprising, because with an average of two murders per year, Icelandic reality is not a rich source of inspiration. But Solveig has a blooming imagination. Or is it a particularly keen sense of things that are different from what they seem, things that others may not even notice?
