This series takes place in the 1930's and 1940's, during the Great Depression, going through to World War 2. The show is about the life the Walton family, who live in the Blue Ridge Mountains of Virginia. The story of the family's life is told through the eyes of John Boy, the oldest son of John and Olivia Walton, who has dreams of attending college and becoming a famous writer.
