Roux Down the River
Michel Roux navigates the magnificent Thames River from his family restaurant in Bray to the Thames Estuary where the river meets the North Sea. He'll be stopping at places along its banks, to enjoy its food, its chefs, its local characters and history - using them all to inspire the very best of his own cooking.
Just as the Thames evolves from rural Idyll to urban thorough-fare, the food served up alongside Britain's most historic waterway evolves along its journey towards the North Sea. From Michelin starred grandeur to the traditional fare of London's East End, via some of the most exciting young chefs, shops and markets around.
Back on the boat, Michel will cook up glorious dishes inspired by what he's encountered along the way; from a luxurious lobster ravioli and a smoked duck burger to a classic lemon tart and heartfelt apple crumble.

From a bicycle ride to a local village boulangerie, to sharing wines and memories at his local wine cave, this is an atmospheric slice of Michel's southern summer getaway. Michel will share no-nonsense recipes for simple snacks, stunning desserts, light lunches to be enjoyed in the sun, and satisfying main courses. A rich beef stew, a stunning salad of goat's cheese, toasted walnuts and honey or delicious melon granita, Michel will turn simple ingredients into tasty recipes for table or terrace.
The Chef's Protege
Three of the UK's most renowned chefs, Tom Kitchin, Theo Randall and Michel Roux Jr are returning to catering college. They're each looking for a young student to take under their wing, someone they can mentor and inspire, eventually becoming their protege.
A cooking competition like no other, The Chef's Protege, centres on the relationship between apprentice and master. Over 20 episodes the series shows the day-to-day reality of the cooking industry and how the masters of today can nurture stars of tomorrow.
Tom, Theo and Michel have all been helped in their careers by someone who believed in them; now they want to give someone the same chance. Each chef has a week to select and train up their strongest candidates before coming together to compete to see who has found the best protege.
With most of the students still in their teens, it is up to the chefs to find a way to teach, inspire and test them without destroying their confidence or ambition - a fine line to tread when the prominent chefs are used to working with resilient professionals in their own kitchens.
