Edmond Dantes, a sailor falsely accused of treason, is imprisoned in the Château d'If off Marseille. After escaping, and adopting the identity of the Count of Monte Cristo, he plans revenge against those who wrongly accused him.

The Chestnut Man is set in the quiet suburb of Copenhagen, where the police make a terrible discovery one blustery October morning. A young woman is found brutally murdered in a playground and one of her hands is missing. Above her hangs a small man made of chestnuts. The ambitious young detective Naia Thulin is assigned to the case, along with her new partner, Mark Hess. They soon discover a mysterious piece of evidence on the chestnut man-evidence connecting it to a girl who went missing a year earlier and was presumed dead - the daughter of politician Rosa Hartung.

Ten years after a brutal virus has wiped out most of the population, it follows two siblings on a search for safety only guided by their father's notebook about the virus and the hazards of this new world. They join another group of young survivors, who quickly realise that the real danger comes from within.

A Tale of the marked trails and consequences of violent upheaval set in modern family life - whether it takes place in a seemingly liberated and progressive artist's home, or in a more tradition-bound and community-oriented environment handball in the province.
