The Nest is a six-part fictional drama that explores the consequences of a pact between a wealthy couple and a teenage girl that changes all of their lives forever.
Dan and Emily are crazy about each other. They live in a huge house in the nicest part of Glasgow and want for nothing. All that's missing is a baby - and they've been trying for years. Through a chance encounter they meet Kaya, an 18 year old from the other side of the city, whose life is as precarious at theirs is comfortable. When Kaya agrees to carry their baby, it feels like they were meant to meet but was it really by chance?
Who is Kaya and what has brought her to this couple? Can the dreams of Kaya, Emily and Dan be fulfilled or have all three embarked on a relationship of mutually assured destruction?
Queens of Mystery
Queens of Mystery follows Matilda Stone, a perennially single female detective, and her three aunts, who are well-known crime writers that help her solve whodunit style murders as well as set her up on blind dates. The Amelie-esque style contemporary murder mystery series will feature quirky characters, fast-paced dialogue and darkly comic murders.
Following a shocking incident amongst an otherwise normal family, 30 year-old Mark Nicholas returns to the town where he grew up. After ten years away, coming home to Renton is harder than Mark could ever have imagined. He always had a strained relationship with his parents, his grandmother Bettyis now living in his childhood bedroom and he barely knows his teenage sister Jodie.
Mark starts to be drawn back into the life he left behind. Most of his school friends still live in the town but he finds it hard to re-connect with them. Hardest of all is meeting his first love Alice who stayed behind when he left. They still have strong feelings for each other but Alice is now married with a child.
Mark struggles to decide whether he should stay permanently to be with his family. But a new life is difficult to build in the place you used to call home and it now feels like you barely know it.
The Smoking Room
Set entirely in the smoking room of a nondescript company, this comedy series brings together various colleagues with (seemingly) only one thing in common: their love of nicotine.
This series is a spin-off from the long running BBC medical drama "Casualty". Set in the same hospital as its sister series, this show follows the everyday lives, professional and personal, of the doctors, nurses and patients who find themselves, for various reasons, in the wards of Holby City General Hospital.
The High Life
Set aboard a plane for the ficticious Scottish airline, Air Scotia, The High Life was a vehicle for the up-and-coming young Scottish commedians Alan Cumming (now best known for his turns in Goldeneye and X-Men II) and Forbes Masson. The show mixed very camp humour with ludicrous situations and bizarre dance routines to great effect. The series span out of a pilot made for the series "Comic Asides" (this still exists and has been made available on the Region 0 DVD distributed by Network Videos) but sadly only one series of six episodes was made before the series was cancelled. Alan Cumming started taking higher profile movie roles whilst Forbes Masson returned to the theatre where he has gained much critical acclaim as a playwright. The show never really struck a chord with a wide audience, although it does still have a cult fanbase, but it was equally praised and derided for its breakneck pace and energy and for its use of Scots.
Between the Lines
This high quality police drama from the BBC concerned on the activities of the Complaints Investigation Bureau (CIB), investigating allegations of corruption at all levels of the police force, challenging the public's perception of the police force as the bastions of law, order and justice.
Set in Edinburgh, the series contrasts the high powered and respectable world of the lawyers and advocates of the Scottish legal profession, with the sleazy and deadly existence of the city s pimps, prostitutes and drug addicts.
When a young prostitute is murdered by a deadly drug overdose, only Doctor Joe Sangster, who has been treating her at the local health clinic, suspects foul play. In the growing climate of fear over drugs and aids in the city, his clinic faces closure due to a local campaign.
He turns to Greg McDowell for help, and the young lawyer sees the chance to make a name for himself.
