This show follows Jerri Blank, a 46-year-old woman. After 32 years of living on the streets, drug dealing, prostitution, and doing time in prison, decides to pick up her life exactly where she left off, at Freshman year in High School. She also decides to move back home with her father, along with her stepmother and stepbrother. She is back at Flatpoint High School, somewhat trying to do her best, but only ends up in crazy situations. Two of the most recognized teachers are Chuck Noblet, Jerri's bitter History teacher, who also has a secret relationship with Geoffrey Jellineck, Jerri's kinder Art teacher and somewhat adviser. There's also the overly stern Principal, Onyx Blackman, who sometimes also seems to have it in for Jerri. Jerri must also face problems with the more popular kids, whom she is desperate to fit in with. But she does have a small circle of friends, though she sometimes mock them, especially her Filipino friend Orlando. Though her problems as a street whore are over, new problems are just beginning.

Sesame StreetSesame Street
PBS, 1969 Running | Comedy, Family, Adventure, Children
4.0

Since its 1969 debut, "Sesame Street" has helped entertain and educate audiences around the world. In the United States alone, approximately 8-million people tune in to visit the street each week. "Sesame Street" is now entering its landmark 40th season, set to debut on PBS in November 2009. While recent years have had season-wide focuses such as healthy habits, getting ready for school, vocabulary development, and math literacy; this season will include a focus on nature, and will tie into a nationwide campaign designed by Sesame Workshop to nurture children's appreciation and love for nature by supporting their innate sense of wonder and curiosity about the natural world. The season-wide focus will weave nature themes more directly into the television program, as well as other Sesame Workshop materials such as books, home videos and toys. The Muppets of "Sesame Street" will spend the season encouraging viewers to explore their curiosity in the outdoors through hands-on activity, and viewers will learn simple, age-appropriate ways to show care and stewardship for the environment.
